Meetings once a month

The Gateway Objectivists usually meet on the third Saturday of each month, alternating between the home of Lorie Bugby, the home of Jeff and Joy Kiviat and a restaurant.

The meetings are informal and open to the public. Typically, the agenda consists of one of the following:

  1. A live presentation by one of the members
  2. A video of a debate or speech of relevance to Objectivism.
  3. A roundtable discussion on a topic chosen in advance.
  4. Book and Journal readings
  5. Movie night featuring members' favorite flicks

Following the presentation, we enjoy refreshments and engage in wide-ranging discussions, not limited to the topic of the evening.

Separating Capitalism
from Materialism

 

The meeting, on Saturday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m., will be at Lorie Bugby's house in West St. Louis County.  Email mail@gatewayobjectivists.net for directions or more information.

This month, Carl Maertz will give a talk entitled "Separating Capitalism from Materialism." Are all capitalists also materialists? Or just perceived as materialists? Carl will explore the characterizations of those who support capitalism and what can be done to differentiate these two ideologies.
